(Featured Photo taken by Mary Ann Claxton) On one of her visits Vicky Henry and I spent one whole day at the dinning table sorting Crockett Go-Ahead Newsletters that I had collected over the years. We made two books, one for the Henry County Genealogy Library in Paris, TN and one for the Crockett Tavern Museum in Morristown, TN. Some of the early ones are missing as they had been sent to new members until gone.

I have all the newsletters printed over the years. They are so interesting to read and for me such wonderful memories. The group pictures of each reunion are priceless as so many of our cousins and friends have passed away over the years but we have their pictures.

I hope this will encourage everyone to put your own book together for your family. It’s a good time to dig in those dresser drawers and closets and see what you might find.

A Newsletter Memory:

When Jim Dumas started the newsletter, he lived in East Tennessee. His mother, Billie Dumas and I lived in Paris, TN. Time would pass and no newsletter. If we were lucky Jim would show up at his mothers’ with a box or sack full of lose pictures and articles and ask Billie and I to put the newsletter together for the printer. Now, we had no experience at all and at times we had to find material to finish Jim’s ideas. I don’t know how we did it but we did and had a lot of laughs so when I hear “newsletter” this memory pops up every time.
