A new date has not been set yet. Notification of the new dates will be forthcoming. The Reunion will happen in 2022.
This year our organization participated in the 9th Annual Save Texas History Symposium as a Silver Level Sponsor for the purpose of promoting the Direct Descendants and Kin of David Crockett to the general public. Sponsors received vendor space for displays and interacting with the symposium attendees. Three DDDC members represented our organization including DDDC board member Carolyn Cotton, Chairman Errol Flannery and his wife, Heather Flannery. The 2-day event kicked off on September 14th with a history workshop at the Alamo, followed by a guided Alamo tour and then a reception with live entertainment. On Saturday, the 15th, education sessions began in the ballroom at the Menger Hotel and continued throughout the day. Between sessions attendees visited the vendor area. As a result, the DDDC sold merchandise, spoke to dozens of enthusiasts about our organization and provided brochures and handouts and signed up 3 new members of the organization, including a Finley descendant. We were also fortunate to be able to partner with Gary Foreman to help promote his exciting (and soon to be released) Crockett Heritage Trail’s “A Texas Legacy” map. We were granted a sneak preview copy and personally provide it to Alamo CEO, Doug McDonald, for consideration as an addition to Alamo displays dedicated to our David. Events such as this one are a wonderful way to preserve the heritage of the legendary David Crockett!
