U.S. Navy Veteran, William T. Dumas, 88, of Cottage Grove died Monday Aug 26, 2019 at Rose Stone Retirement Community in Paris.

Dumas was born 27 Dec 1930. in Paris. He was the son of the late James Howard and Billie Williams Dumas. He was married on Aug 17 1958 to Peggy French Dumas who preceded him in death.

He is survived by two daughters, Pamela Ann (Joey) Choate of Cottage Grove and Linda Dumas (Dennis) Ziemba of Highlands, NJ; three grandchildren; Lucas (Johanna) Choate, Josh (Whitney) Choate and Hannah Choate and three great-grandchildren, Farren Milam, Adalynn Choate and Meira Choate.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a grandchild, Allison Leigh Choate and a brother, Jim “Spider” Dumas

Dumas was a retired maintenance engineer from the gas plant in Cottage Grove. He was a member of Cottage Grove United Methodist Church, the Cottage Grove Masonic Lodge, 109, Buchanan Lodge 772 and the Optimist Club. He was in the Navy during the Korean War and enjoyed gardening.
