Sgt. Samuel Wortha Webb, Born 12/11/1890 death 09/14/1918. Killed in action in France where he is buried at St Mihiel American Cemetery and Memorial, Lorraine Region, France.

Sergeant Webb was attached to the Nineties division and left America in April. He was among the first draft troops sent out from Carter County, and went into training at Camp Travis, San Antonio, Tx. He was a young man of exceptional character and had a wide circle of friends in Ardmore. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Mary Clarinda “Crockett” Webb, 4 brothers, Ran Webb, Dow Webb, N.D. Webb of Ardmore and B.E. Webb who lives in Kansas, 3 sisters Mrs. Van Landingham of Broken Bow, ok. Mrs. Carl Caperton of Whitewright, Tx. and Mrs. T.M. Weatherly of Bagwell, Tx.

Sgt S.W. Webb was knighted May 22, 1915.
